So here’s the deal. We love dark chocolate. But we always wondered why dark chocolate takes itself so seriously? Seriously! So we created FATSO. The chunkiest bars filled with unreal flavour combos, made with the finest Colombian dark chocolate.

2020

Putting an end to boring chocolate.

We know it’s a cliche, but yes FATSO was an idea born by Ella Mckay and her Co-founders in lockdown. It was a time where little indulgences felt more meaningful and more satisfying than ever before. All that was, except when hunkering down on a bar of dark chocolate… Dark chocolate was the anti-indulgence. Boring, serious, almost permissible! 

Not one to accept the status quo, Ella and her Co’s decided to create FATSO: a flavour packed, chunky, cheeky, highly moreish dark chocolate bar that is as delicious as it is uncompromising in quality and ethics.

2021

Quality without compromise

Through her research into the history of cocoa farming and the production process of making chocolate, Ella was horrified to learn quite how complex and deep the challenges were within the industry. And it was after watching the chocolate episode of the Netflix Documentary series Rotten, that she decided that if she were to develop her idea for FATSO, she wasn’t going to add to an already vast problem. 

Happily, Ella partnered with Luker Chocolate: a  family run, purpose led chocolate grower and maker in Colombia that shared Ella’s new found passion for quality and ethics within the chocolate world. Jump to Our Chocolate to discover more about our chocolate. 

Having found the best chocolate in the world, and met Ken, a Professional chef and self taught Chocolatier, FATSO went from a concept, into a reality.

2022

Launch

FATSO launched with 3 big flavours and 3 big personalities, and quickly found its way into the hearts and mouths of UK retailers and customers across the UK, including iconic Liberty London, Harvey Nichols and Anthropologie.

2025

Today

Just three years in, FATSO has grown from a bold idea into a fully fledged family of six gloriously chunky flavours, plus a line-up of highly giftable selection boxes for every kind of chocolate lover. Our small but mighty team of five keeps these hefty bars rolling out nationwide, with FATSO even popping up in a handful of spots overseas.

We continue to work exclusively with Luker Chocolate, proudly supporting The Chocolate Dream, an initiative focused on sustainable innovation and finding better ways to do things for people and the planet.

Meanwhile, Ella is still on her mission to prove that dark chocolate can have just as much fun as milk. Along the way, she’s become a vocal champion for female founders, women in business, and mothers building businesses of their own.
